There was a baby boy, in the middle of nowhere, crying out for his mother. He had been left for dead when his mom, taking him to the village, was charged by a pack of wolves. They had unwittingly interrupted their hunting! The baby fell off the horse but his mom couldn’t get him because the wolves were too overwhelming. The wolves chased his mom away and he is all alone. He keeps crying when suddenly, the wolves returned! They are circling him, smelling and looking, seeing who and what had interrupted their hunting. Now these wolves were no ordinary wolves, they were the sacred animal of the sun god, Seris. The wolves liked something about the boy, it was anyone’s guess, but they took him in and started to raise him.
They taught him how to hunt, kill, and how to survive. One day as he was growing up he went on his first hunt. He was excited but also a little nervous. They had gotten the prey in a cave and were closing in when suddenly, the deer sprang out and charged at the Boy! As calmly as a bird flying across the sky, he pounced and ripped out the deer’s throat with his

The wall is finished and the enemy is right at the door. The feeble defending force of ten thousand troops is facing and incredible force of over one hundred thousand. But the city has the massive wall, encircling the whole city, wide enough that ten men can walk abreast and tall enough that you cannot see even the tallest building in the city. The Boy is sleeping when he is awakened by loud screaming. He bolts up, gets his armor on, and grabs his sword. He runs outside and rushes to the wall. The enemy is attacking! He takes a legion of men to wipe out some catapults that are bombarding the wall with rocks. Like a lion tearing into its prey, he leaps into battle and destroys every walking thing he sees. His legion wipes out the catapults and heads back to the wall. The legion of one hundred men is now hardly

The term “hero” has been around since the late fourteenth century; however, the term is of an uncertain origin (Etymology, paragraph 2). Based upon controversial etymology beliefs, Webster’s Dictionary defines a ‘hero’ as an individual that is admired for his or her great acts or fine qualities. The life of a real life hero is reflected by the epic literary example “The Hero’s Journey” that is exhibited in the book The Hero with a Thousand Faces; therefore, a hero in today’s world must undergo the same twelve stages that are listed in “The Hero’s Journey.” The hero’s journey is known for telling…

Over 70% of United States workers are unhappy with their jobs, ranging from complete hatred to a lack of enthusiasm (Stebner Workplace Morale). The new found focus on material wealth has pushed the idea of happiness aside for many Americans. Christopher McCandless, however, refused to comply to this tradition. McCandless abandoned many of his material objects, carrying only what he could carry on his back, to hitchhike to Alaska where he believed happiness could be achieved through complete absorption in nature. McCandless’s method of attaining happiness is often criticized, seen in Jon Krakauer’s Into the Wild, for being “reckless” (Krakauer Author’s Note), as McCandless’s journey North evidently led to his premature death. While McCandless’s…

I felt that each video was helpful in its' own way. Personally, the 'What Makes A Hero' video was the most helpful/informative video for me. Basically, it explained the common Hero's journey archetype which takes place in many stories. Essentially, the hero in a story is the archetypal predecessor of all humankind in general. The modern day hero is a culmination our ancestors' experiences over many generations.…

Sitting at my desk, I stared down at my schoolwork while my mind remained static. Suddenly, I found myself beginning to radiate golden light as my body faded from existence; then before I knew it, I rematerialized out of thin air. This does not happen often, so I was rather confused as I stood atop a cloud, high up in the sky. That is, until I noticed a large, human-like figure appear before me in a holy light. He raised his hands and smiled down at me before bellowing out, “Behold, for it is I; Gabe Newell!”…
