A Hero's Journey By Ayala Summary

Ayala carefully watched the winding path leading up to the gate of the compound. She wanted to be there the moment the distinguished gentlemen arrived. There had been talk that they would be coming soon. She’d heard the two herdsmen who hung around speaking about it the other day. However, ever since the incident with her Mistress the previous night, she’d paid little attention at first to anything else going on around the compound. Reminiscent of her father’s misfortune resulting in his subsequent demise, they devoted most of their time ensuring their Mistress did not succumb to a similar untimely death. It was when she passed her Master’s door that the importance of the day’s events came in to view again.

For seven days she ended up coming back, time and time again only to be greeted with the peculiar silence between the eccentric group. It all seemed quite odd to her. She was beginning to wish they had never come.

As the ominous darkness continued, their Mistress no longer met her mother outside of their bedchambers to discuss the day’s affairs. Instead, it was her mother who saw her Mistress to bed before they turned in for the night. She’d even granted her permission to assist her. It offered her a great sense of freedom—even inclusion, no longer needing to hide.
“Our Master sits with three men each day,” Ayala said, as she brushed the stubborn curl from out of her Mistress’ hair.
“These are renowned men, filled with Godly wisdom,” her Mistress stated weakly.
“Well, they have yet to offer my lord any help,” she said. “Why did they come if they were just going to sit there and not communicate a word? Are they not able to extend at least a compassionate ear to him?”
“The men will speak given time,” her mistress said

Your words are a blustering wind. Does God pervert justice? Does the Almighty pervert what is right?” lord Bildad began his dialogue. “When your children sinned against him, he gave them over to the penalty of their sin…. but if you will seek God earnestly and plead with the Almighty, if you are pure and upright, even now he will rouse himself on your behalf and restore you to your prosperous state.”
She had had enough! Who was this so-called man of wisdom who would dare suggest her Master was hiding wrongdoings and his sons had received the ultimate punish for committing theirs. A fist full of anger punched her hard in the gut. She couldn’t stand to listen to another second of these inexplicable words, she thought. Turning to storm off, the sound of her Master’s voice stopped her in her tracks.
“Indeed, I know that this is true,” he agreed. “Yet, how can mere mortals prove their innocence before God? His wisdom is profound, his power is vast. Who has resisted him and come out unscathed? He moves mountains without their knowing it and overturns them in his anger. He shakes the earth from its place and makes its pillars tremble. He speaks to the sun and it does not shine; he seals off the light of the stars. He alone stretches out the heavens and treads on the waves of the sea.” her Master touted. “Even if I summoned him and he responded, I do not believe he would give me a hearing. He would crush me with a storm and multiply

Kate Chopin wrote The Storm in 1898 about a woman who had an adulterous fling with an old lover during a storm. Calixta and Bobinot have been married for 5 years and have one son named, Bibi. On a hot afternoon Bobinot, and Bibi walked to the store on afternoon and left Calixta at home sewing. Durring the time they were gone a storm brewed up and as she was out gathering the clothes her old lover rode up and took shelter with her until the storm had passed. The usage of natural imagery is astounding in showing the time period, the day of the storm, and the lack of remorse.…

Why a widow? Is this just some random choice for the sake of analogy, or is she perhaps representative of something in particular? All theologians are in agreement that she represents a body of believers. But to refer to Christ’s church as a “widow” is indeed odd, since Christ’s church, a body of believers, is called a “virgin” in the New Testament — never a widow. Israel, however, distinct from The Church, is often pictured as a widow in scripture.…

The screams and cries for affection bolt her up and out of the bed. The same feeling of nausea washes through her body, as she stumbles dizzily towards the wailing sounds that fill her pounding head. God has shown great mercy over the centuries to those who mock Him and blaspheme. For reasons historians and theologians can only speculate about, however, there are times and instances He chooses to address blasphemy in a dramatic way. Man’s pride can lead down a dark path that can end in conflict with a sovereign God and His judgement against that pride. One such case was Herod Agrippa I. Herod Agrippa I of Acts chapter 12 was the last of the Herodian dynasty to rule with the title of king over Judea.…

Armed with the rod of celestial dominion, adorned with the white hand of Divine knowledge, and proceeding from the Paran of the love of God, and wielding the serpent of power and everlasting majesty, He shone forth from the Sinai of light upon the world. He summoned all the peoples and kindreds of the earth to the kingdom of eternity, and invited them to partake 14 of the fruit of the tree of faithfulness. As stated previously the main issue with this passage is that woman only is being punished for this crime, however, that issue is not the only one as are scholar are discussing. Scholars are also discussing the violence behind the passage. Scott writes, “As Gail O’Day describes it: ‘[the adulterer] is an object on display, given no name, no violence, no identity apart form that for which she stands accused’.” By not giving the adulterer any control or even a name, the woman becomes an object of display.…
