On December 2, 2014 I woke up with sharp stabbing pain in the side of my chest. When I was at the ER the doctor announced that,"You have a severe collapsed lung and we have to operate immediately." That's when the nurse came into my room to take my vitals as she was going to leave I asked,"Could you stay." She smiled and replied,"Of course" and she stayed for 15 minutes teaching me breathing techniques to help me out at which point I stabilized and made sure I was comfortable before she went to help another patient. The next day when I finally awoke it was my 16th birthday and right on time my mother sang happy birthday and gave me a present which I was thankful for but what was really shocking was when the nurse came into my room with a giant birthday cookie balloons and some cards. Her and some of the other nurses bought me presents out of their own pockets and I didn't know what to say never before has someone gone out of their way while working for me. She also was able to get me out of my tiny room in the ICU back to the recovery room. At which point I met a new nurse that left a similar impression as every day she would help me get up and walk to start the recovery process every time getting a bit further. She also talked to me like every nurse but she actually listened as she saw I was passionate about music she drew me a guitar on her free time and gave it to me as a late birthday present. This started to shock me as this was the second person that did something inconvenient to help me out. Later on I sought out help from an in house teacher with the homework I was receiving ( around fifty pages in a week) and she laughed exclaiming,"Is this a joke" but then became stern as she got in contact with my school to get my homework excused from the pure amount that was sent to me. She spent days arguing with each individual teacher until she got her way even staying late to again help
