The grandmother read in the newspaper that a serial killer named the Misfit has escaped from penitentiary, and perhaps is headed toward Florida. The grandmother suggested they should take a trip to Tennessee instead, while traveling the grandmother talk about how she remembers an old plantation in the area. She made up a lie about a secret panel in the home, because she knew that would cause her grandkids John Wesley, and June Star to react excitedly. Due to their reaction, that caused Bailey to give in. As Bailey turned around and traveled down the desolated road the grandmother suddenly realized she made a mistake. She reacted vividly which caused the awakening of Pitty Sing, her cat that was not allowed on the road trip. Pitty Sing clinched on to Bailey’s shoulder causing him to lose control of the car. Suddenly, topping the hill a car was traveling toward them. The grandmother then stood up and waved her arms fiercely until the car approached. The individuals then exited the car, and the grandmother stared until she noticed one of them was the Misfit.
