They are made out of Granma dresses, Grandpa shirts even a piece of Great Grandpa uniform. They were made by hand by her grandmother, her mother and aunt. And Dee wants them. She doesn’t want her sister to have them, because “Maggie would put them on the bed and in five years they’d be in rags” (245). She wants to hang them in her apartment as a decoration.
