The Flannery O’Conner scholar that presented at our school is a man by the name of Paul Eli. He started off by introducing himself and stating he is from LOCATION. As an undergraduate student I expected to be astonished by the presentation of the scholar. In fact, I was actually ecstatic to leave that night with a load of knowledge on Flannery O’Conner’s short story “A Good Man is Hard to Find.” Instead, I left the seminar disappointed without any gain of knowledge. The sad part is that we were all told he would give a depth detailed analysis of Flannery O’Conner’s, “A Good Man is Hard to Find.” We all came prepared by reading the short story ahead of time. We sat down at the presentation expecting for certain standards to be met and they were failed. Once the presentation began, I was totally confused. I was anxiously waiting to hear about “A Good Man is Hard to Find,” analysis but it never arrived. He did not explain what his outline was going to consist of. He began by going straight into a quick summary and analysis of four short stories. There were several problems fluctuating around his presentation. First, his voice was extremely monotone. I anticipated for Paul Eli to speak loud and precisely. You’d think a scholar would be enthusiastic to express his analysis, but this was not the case.
