Many girl, who are muslims, have no freedom to choose who they want to marry. When a girl does not obey her parents is shows disrespect, and ruins the family’s respect. Many of the girls are being punished for their actions, and some of them are murdered.“A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness”, is a documentary, produced by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, talks about a story of a women named Saba. She is a 19 year old women, who dishonors her family, due to marrying a man. The marriage was not approved by father or mother, meaning it was an unapproved marriage. Therefore, resembling a dishonoring to the family, because it showed that the child had no respect towards the father or mother. Father gives his opinion, he believes that what he did was the right thing to do, because she had dishonored the family. He mentions a lot about having the right to punish her because he takes care of her. Mother and sister also agree with father 's opinion, about her being punished for dishonoring the family, due to her action. As a result, the neighborhood does not have respect for them anymore. Mother in law, Qaiser mother, believes that Saba is happy with her life, which included, being around with her in laws, and husband. Furthermore, Saba and Qaiser show emotions towards each other intimacy. She mentions that she loves her husband, and that both live happily with each other 's companion. “ We were very happy. Qaiser and I talked over the phone and even met a few times.” Qaiser also alludes that “[His] lover for her is very strong. [He’d] die without her.” Finally the criminal investigator, lawyer, and doctor, also gave an emotional feeling towards her situation. Her lawyer, Asad Jamal, believe that she should receive justice towards her case, and that it should have been treated as a case of murder. In the documentary, it explains that “More than 1,000 women are murdered in Pakistan each year by male relatives who believe the victims have dishonored their families.” Saba’s Lawyer, explain that the court justice in Pakistan, forgives people who committed murder if the family forgives them. He explains that families will forgive the father, because they believe that the women should be punished for their mistakes. Father, as well mentions that, “Islam does not permit the girl to go out of the house.” He used this as a logic reason, to support himself, because he thought his daughter should not have run away with some
