From earliest days to these days, there are lots of genres exist such as Action, Adventure, Comedy, Drama, Horror, Science-fiction, Western, etc. including sub-genres which are more categorised in genre and detail such as Romance, Fantasy, Mystery, Psychological, Historical, etc. The repertoire of elements, identified by Nick Lacey, is the characteristics or conventions for categorising genres, which contains five major factors; iconography, characters, settings, style, and narrative structure. Iconography is the images, tools, or features which are presented in the movie, the meaning is sent through these objects such as spaceships and high-technology tools in Science-Fiction films. Stereotyped characters, there are different types of characters in different genres, for example, action genre has both protagonists (hero) and antagonists (villain), the hero is a symbol of goodness, doing good, protecting something and trying to stop the villain. Settings are distinct location and time period in films such as a frightening place in a horror film or medieval time period in Historical films. Style means the way the film is presented through camera angles, lighting, editing and theme colour. First, Blockbuster movies are made with high budget and use famous stars, meanwhile, Art films are made with the lower amount of budget and played by unknown actors or amateur actors. Moreover, the narrative structure in Blockbusters is usually linear narrative, problem-solving routines, easy to understand, no deviation and follows the pattern which is expected by an audience. Whereas, Art films usually use non-linear storytelling, which is hide the deep meaning and difficult to understand, also focus more on psychological drama and moral dilemmas. Furthermore, Blockbusters are promoted with heavy marketing, using cross-media convergence in order to attract attention from a mass audience. In contrast to Art films, which targeted at a niche audience, also, the promotions of the films are widespread by critic reviews or word-of-mouths since the films are not supported by any financial banking or have lower key advertising.
