Essay About Moving Experience

Superior Essays
Imagine yourself having to move to a foreign country at a young age. The next day, you’re in an unfamiliar classroom filled with unfamiliar people. Your teacher begins to speak but you can’t understand anything. All you can think about is what people are trying to tell you and how to respond back. It’s a very frustrating experience but scenarios like this happen a lot. I am a person who has experienced this particular situation. I moved to Kauai when I was on the verge of learning my native language, Ilocano. I was born in the Philippines, not in the United States as most people think. My mom and I moved in the year of 2003. I was only six years old at that time. The surroundings, food, and people were all different on Kauai. Most of all, the spoken language sounded alien. I had little to no experience with the …show more content…
Through all my hard work, I accomplished my biggest educational goal. That was to graduate with honors. I was called into my school’s office to learn what cord I’d be wearing. I was so shocked to find out I was graduating as a summa cum laude student. I expected myself to get magna cum laude so I was very proud of myself for exceeding my expectations. Besides being a summa cum laude graduate, I wore two other cords. These cords were from the National Honors Society and Spanish Honor Society. I knew I made my family proud because I was recognized three times.
As of now, I’m attending Kauai Community College for my Liberal Arts. I have not chosen on a specific career path yet. However, I believe attending Kauai Community College will be a great opportunity for me to find my passion. I also hope to study abroad in the future, especially in Japan, because I’m re-learning the language and I’ve always been interested in the Japanese culture. I plan on graduating in two to three years. Afterwards, I want to apply to a university in order to continue my education. I truly hope to find my career choice as I live and

I didn’t get the chance to attend my graduation, but I was nonetheless overjoyed about this accomplishment. My graduation from college was a major success to me because both my parents did not get the chance to finish high school and I wanted to make them proud. I wanted them to see that I would not get distracted, I wanted them to see that regardless of our financial situation, I am able to remain focus and follow through with my promise to them, which was to graduate college. This accomplishment was important to me because I was the first in my family to attend and graduate college.…

Some of my biggest accomplishments have been achieved because of one honor I received years ago. At age 7 I was admitted into the Talented and Gifted (TAG) program. The TAG program is for unique students with an IQ over 120 who aren't being challenged by the school's typical curriculum. This program has presented some of the most delightful challenges and rewarded some of the sweetest accomplishments to my peers and I. The influence of the TAG program can be divided into three different factions: peer competition, challenges from my instructor, and diverse experiences outside of the classroom.…

Throughout my life, I’ve had my fair share of good and bad decisions but the best decision of my life was to get my grades straight and focus on school. For the past two and a half years, i’ve put my absolute best into coming out on top and so far i’ve succeeded. Being invited into the National Honors Society is definitely one of my biggest accomplishments that i’m very proud of. When I was a bit younger, around seventh or eighth grade, my grades weren’t anything I took a lot of pride in.…

I want to take this opportunity to sincerely and formally thank you for all you have done and made possible in helping me progress throughout my time here at SPC. My experience as a member of the Honors College has enhanced my life through the fellowship, better course environments, and the exceptional research conference opportunities and exposure that your leadership has provided. From a student’s standpoint ― especially an “unconventional” student such as myself ― you have given not only fresh and unique opportunities to myself and our membership, but you have given your heart and soul with the purpose of adding an advanced and totally positive learning environment. I know many Honors College alumni privately express this very same message to you ― but your total giving of time, energy, creativity, and true caring should receive far more formal acknowledgement.…

Notably, my goal after high school is to further my education with schooling by either attending Grand Valley, MIchigan State or Central Michigan University. My career choice is to major in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or major in a fashion career, which are two very different career choices. It really all depends with which college has the best programs to me, but if i decide to go into the medical field I’d like to attend Grand Valley State University. I thought Diagnostic Medical Sonography would be a good career choice for me because I found ultrasounds really interesting and how you’re able to see either a baby or something that is wrong when you get injured. With my other career choice, I’ve always had a huge interest in fashion, and a lot of the clothes and designers today have impacted me and it’s a big inspiration with what I might want to do for the rest of my life.…

I come from a typical family consisting of four of us; my mom, dad, sister and myself. Throughout my child hood my dad always worked and never struggled to put food in the table. Likewise I was never bullied in school or treated unfairly due to my ethnicity or religion. My point here is that I don't come from a world where I had to struggle due to something outside of my control but instead to overcome something. However that does not mean that I was never challenged or had to overcome an obstacle.…
