A Follow-Up Interview

Improved Essays
Emma, I'm writing this e-mail because I felt like I left a lot on the table during my interview that I wish to address. With the intentions of deciding upon and announcing the directors before CIJID I felt there may not be enough time to schedule a follow up interview, so I hope to further get my point across in this e-mail of why I believe I am qualified and fitting for the job of Program Director.

I know one of your concerns you raised during the interview was the small amount of management experience. I agree that I may not have the most management experience however I feel that I have proven myself as an effective manager because the limited time I spent in the roles I have come in in less then ideal situations and improved upon them.

One thing is I think one of the program directors should try and stop by each lodge every week not only to talk to staph and the AD briefly but to see the lodge. This will overall improve communication while also allowing upper management to see and suggest improvements on the lodges and staph. Another goal of mine, which I discussed and further built upon at dinner after the interviews is to improve upon the CIT program. I think back and although CITs were not treated as well in the past we had a larger percent of CITs that would continue on and join staph. When I think back the reason why I continued on after my CIT years wasn't based on how I was treated but I loved the opportunities I had been given. In recent years the CIT program has focused more on trainings and watching and observing others teach. As well as a extra work force helping in the dining hall or parking cars. I think that this training and work is great but we should also bring back some of the teaching opportunities. I believe we should have CITs return to staph week (and not have that count towards their 3 weeks) which will allow them to bound with staph, bound as a whole CIT group and go through the training with everyone else. With their training already done this will free up more time for them to be actual staph members during their three weeks. …show more content…
I have always believed that it doesn't matter how loud or enthusiastic you are as a program director if you cannot inspire the staph, one to two people's enthusiasm is no where near as loud and enthusiastic as 80 people can be. This all shows in my believe in 'if someone else is working you should be to' and 'first one up, last one to bed' and is the reason as to why those are the core of desire to be program

Follow-up (after the interview) Often overlooked, the follow-up is the final step in the interviewing process. It’s essential that you send a thank you letter after an interview to every person you met at the company (remember to ask for business cards). In your letter, summarize your conversation and re-emphasize the skills you would bring to the position. If you are interested in the position, avoid sending a generic thank you letter. Include reasons why you are the perfect candidate for the job.…

For what feels like the first time in years, I can breathe easy knowing that I will be attending medical school next Fall. The countless hours of studying, research, and volunteer work have paused- however only for a brief moment. While I am currently enjoying the lax lifestyle of a college senior living out his last few months of undergrad, not a day goes by where I am not looking forward to starting medical school. At this time, I have been accepted to Saint Louis University School of Medicine, and am waiting to hear a final decision from Indiana University and University of Illinois. Whatever school I attend, I look forward to providing medical care and support for people in the midwest region.…

What I learned about myself is that I have potential for being a global manager. Looking over the questions, I tend to lack in my experiences more than my actual skills. What I’ve learned is that I can adapt quick and connect with people easily, but I don’t have many experiences in it. To widen my range of experiences I would most likely have to travel more and emerge myself directly into new cultures. I would also have to study different languages a bit more for that is an area I very much lack in.…

Retrospective journal I used to see management as a job, where you need to show up every day, boss people around, meet your end of the contract and make sure that thing don’t get messed-up. You're responsible for every result, every detail, you’re hired to do that job and all you need to do is to meet those expectations. I used to work in an energy providing company in France, so as an engineer, I had a boss, and saw him as the devil, he’s there to make sure you do your job and your life doesn’t matter to him. Not an easy task if you ask me.…
