My Reflection Of Education: My Philosophy Of Philosophy

I have taken quite a few of mind-opening classes. I had a general idea of what I was getting myself into when I signed up for this course. I had a rough idea of what Philosophy was and I expected this class to expand upon what I already knew and give me a glimpse of just how much more there was outside my grasp. For the most part, I was correct. But, just how it always goes, everything happened in a way drastically different than how I imagined. This was one of the most free-flowing, open, comfortable, and conversational class I have ever had the pleasure of attending. I like to think that I am part of the section of society that does not shy away from any topic of discussion; people who give every possible idea equal thought and consideration. In this class, I felt like any topic or thought was up for grabs, which makes all discussions that much better and productive. I know that everyone has a particular learning preference. I prefer to learn by doing (which in Philosophy is accomplished by discussion) and seeing, such as watching videos and breaking down flowcharts. Perhaps the fault lies with me for not paying attention as much as I perceive, but it seems to me the tests were over book information only, and extremely specific questions. I feel like I benefitted much more from the group discussions and videos as opposed to the book material. For me personally, the book material I read on my own is nowhere near as important as the experiences I enjoyed in class, so I would rather be tested on the latter. Other than that, I would have prefered more of my classmates participated in the class to a greater degree, but such things are out of my

During this semester my way of viewing reading and understanding them has definitely been tested. I feel that the goal of this class was to show us how many beliefs are connected. Whether they are of Greek, Roman, or Gospel backgrounds. The way we transitions from each reading, and were required to bring it all together during our discussions really help me get a better understand of these readings. I would define the learning structure of this class as Platonic.…

I honestly enjoyed this course, it was as informative and interesting as Western Civilization I, and however, I learned a whole lot of new stuff in this course. It definitely exceeded my expectations because it was able to keep me focus on all the material. The information that was given was information that intrigued me, and left me wanting to learn more and more from the different subject. I honestly do not have any suggestions for improvement, because I think it is fine just the way it is. I personally believe that we do learn from our history, but sometimes history tends to repeat itself.…

I believe this course was very effective for students as it reflects the purpose of every assignment. Every assignment not only helped me to gain knowledge about different topics but also help me understand their meaning and how they reflect in our life. Ex. I never knew what is Emotion & learning was until I was given the assignment. There I found emotion is very muchly involved in our daily learning and it either builds our motivation to learn or could also discourage us to learn.…

For english in the first quarter I reflected on my strengths and weaknesses. How to fix them and make them better so I can improve in the second quarter. Something I figured out was that I maybe do a better job with getting my ideas out verbally rather than using my pencil on paper. I learn through actions the best so maybe I need to learn how to grow on that and use my paper and pencil to learn.…

The majority interesting thing I learned in class is that the mind can be your best friend or your enemy. The thing is it is not truly the minds fault. Another thing I found interesting is how misguided society is. However, knowing that society has a negative view towards numerous things we talked about in class, for example, depression, certain types of drugs, abnormal behaviors, etc was not surprising. It is startling how I questioned countless things and during class, many of my questions were answered or reflected upon.…

Each teacher has his or her own method of teaching. No one teacher teaches the same way as another. These methods are manifested in a teacher’s education philosophy, or “the principles that guide professional action. ”(Parkay, 2015, p.114) A teacher creates his or her philosophy by examining his/her beliefs in a variety of categories, like what a teacher’s role should be, what a student’s role should be, and what should be taught.…
