A Few Good Men Essay

One look can express so much- it is something that modern movies need. Good actors, a good script with prescribed roles and dialogues. It is all about "A Few Good Men" movie. That movie is about young military lawyers investigating the case of a soldier death. In the ranks of Marines was a murder of the private soldier. Two guys were accused for the murder. Were they "good" or "bad"? It was mission for a young lieutenant Daniel Kaffee (Tom Cruise) and a woman captain - JoAnne Galloway (Demi Moore) to find out the truth. The idea to get to the bottom and find out the truth did not fit Daniel Kaffee’s colleague - the prosecutor Jack Ross (Kevin Bacon). He offered a "deal" to admit the guilt to be released after six months. But soldiers did not admit their guilt, they were ready to defend their case, even at the cost of a strict sentence. The movie shows the exact respect given to the judge: everyone has to rise when the judge comes in, address to a judge as “your honor”. There was a scene, where the judge corrected a person for being disrespectful and asked to be addressed as “your honor”. He protects the people, not the government and the movie represents a feeling that the judge was “blind” and gave a chance to say a word to everyone and he listened carefully. Also, we discussed a bailiff in class and his responsibilities in courts. Bailiff protects a judge and keeps order in the courtroom such as ensure quiet, “all rise” and etc. In class, we learned that no one step towards the judge, but I noticed a discrepancy when a defense attorney (Lt. Kaffee) handed two journals to a judge by himself without a bailiff stopping him.
