God directed Abraham to take a group of people, including his wife, and nephew to Canaan. God promised Abraham that they were to make him a great nation, to make his name great, and to bless all families on earth through him. God fulfilled each promise regardless of the struggles they faced. A move to Egypt due to famine caused Abraham to obtain riches in exchange for leaving, so the Pharaoh could avoid God’s wrath.
