A Fantastic Idea Recently, one of my friends called me angrily and complained about her parents. She said that they have to live together even if she already had her own child. She was annoyed because her parents cared too much about her personal life which made her and her husband really uncomfortable. After this phone call, I feel so lucky about my present condition. My parents are too busy with their work. They have their own financial resource and we do not have to live together. Aging population has now become one of the biggest issues in China. It is true that some elderly people now have nothing to do but put their eyes on young men. So younger generation may have more free space and arrange their life casually if those old were gone. Another point is that most old people have little income and they have no further utility value, so we shall not spend more money on their food, live or entertainment. Once they are badly ill, we have to pay our savings for their medical care. If there is still someone who stand out and oppose this fantastic idea, that man must be mad or be the spy from other country. Be careful of the following statements which always appear in some so-called patriotism articles or speeches. The most popular one is that government should spend more money on senior citizen welfare instead of the entertainment for some functionaries (e.g. luxury dinner conference and free abroad travel for governors). It is obviously not a good idea. The fortune of our nation is in the hand of those government officials. They deserve a better treatment. We cannot sacrifice their interests to provide those who will die soon with a better life. Another statement suggest the development of pension industry and the improvement of pension facilities like nursing homes. People who put forward this must not be a businessman. At least not a clever businessman. An experiencing entrepreneur will not put their money into such a low-profit (or even zero-profit) investment, because nobody will pay for a nursing home. The last popular statement is about the solution of lack of labour forces. It suggest citizens be encouraged to have more babies and immigration from other countries be welcome. It is completely nonsense! China cannot hold more people. This solution can only lead to a worse
