A Dream to be the Best “To be successful in an area, you have to respect the people who are successful in that area, or you are disrespecting the very thing you want to become” (Schultz 84). Foxcatcher written by Mark Schultz is a story of true dedication, brotherhood, and tragedy that some people can relate to, understand, and enjoy, but whether you enjoy it or not, it will impact anyone to work harder. Mark Schultz and Dave Schultz were arguably the greatest brothers in wrestling history. They both had many differences in their time but respected one another greatly. They worked very hard to accomplish many awards and records in their time. Dave and Mark Schultz prove that success doesn’t come without hard work, determination and ambition. …show more content…
The brothers made it to where wrestlers are no longer allowed to hold a person in a headlock the same as before (Schultz 7). They were truly masters of technique, and changed it to give them any advantage they could get. They were the first brothers to both win Olympic gold (Schultz 9). They supported each other every step of the way until their ultimate goal was achieved. The Schultz brothers won more NCAA, US Open, World, and Olympic titles than any other American brother combo in history (”Mark” 2). They pushed one another for greatness up until the end. Without each other, Dave and Mark Schultz may have never been able to accomplish their incredible goals or have made such a lasting impact on the …show more content…
The book has also made me feel as though I should push myself harder in everything I do. That I should never half-do anything. It has made me want to focus more on my goals for wrestling and do whatever it takes to accomplish them. The book has taught me nothing can be accomplished by being lazy. I have huge dreams I hope to accomplish someday in wrestling and in life. The book makes me feel as though if I push myself to my true limit, my dreams are attainable and can be reached similar to Dave and Mark’s in this inspirational
