Many ancient civilizations depicted dragons in their own special way, but the physical appearance of these beasts remained quite similar. Since this fact talks about a dragon’s external features, it is very relevant. These mythical creatures have some of the most magnificent and intricate characteristics of all reptiles. Looking like one of Picasso’s paintings, the head of a dragon is truly extravagant. The next part of its layout is the beautiful body and wings. Finally, being as flexible as a ballerina, its lithe tail swings from side to side. As curious eyes gaze at the myth in wonder, the head draws the most attention. Shaped like an eagle’s skull, the rough face of a dragon would be terrifying. As it huffs in and out, the …show more content…
Although its forest green figure shines like a star, it blends into its environment like a camouflaged hunter waiting to ambush its future meal. Their scales are tiny plates of armor that protect them from harm. Having a much heavier weight than that of an elephant, its limbs build up giant muscles. The claws sitting at the edge of the dragon’s long legs quickly pierce through iron like a knife slices butter. Hooked ends create claws that resemble fishing hooks, which latch onto prey with ease. Since its large wings stretch over the length of three football fields, they act as a parachute. Seeming coarse and dry, it surprises people when they feel soft yet leathery skin. The bones that run throughout the wings are like bumps on a flat road. The spikes that run down the dragon’s back are as dull as a guitar pick. Looking unstable, they wave from side to side, dancing in the gentle wind. After the body of the dragon, the tail reveals itself. The wart covered appearance makes it seem like a toad, and if it were to disconnect from its body, it would be a stretched out cone. Acting as a steering wheel in the sky, the tail shifts back and forth to change direction. Dull spikes run down to the end of the appendage, dwindling until it reaches nothing. Being longer than the dragon itself, the tail is extremely lengthy. It is as heavy as a semi truck, and that makes it able to knock down a tree easier than a

On “Hercules Delivering Prometheus” and its Frame Constraints Many artworks are confined to a frame that limits the viewers’ eye or allows for their interpretation beyond its boundaries. The audience is either forced to analyze the present material or search outside for another meaning. Lespingola’s “Hercules Delivering Prometheus” embodies an abundance of intensity and dynamism that threatens to overcome its constraints, and envelops the viewer in its power. Hence, the bronze statue breaks its figurative frame.…

The sculpture Triad of King Mycerinus and Two Goddesses, which resides at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, was excavated from The Temple of Mycerinus in Giza and was created between 2548 - 2530 BCE, during the reign of Mycerinus. Made from greywacke, an incredibly coarse, dark sandstone, this sculpture uses variation in texture, incorrect scale, and line to draw attention to King Mycerinus in relation to the two divinities, and thus is an example of royalty as divinity. Overall, this sculpture depicts the goddess of the Hare Nome, the goddess Hathor, and the King Mycerinus (in that order from left to right), all carved from a single block of greywacke. Additionally, this is an example of a high relief sculpture, meaning that the sculpture is…

Dragons’ Adaptive Strategies in the Iron Islands. With just four species of dragons of the eighteen that live on the continent of Westeros, the Iron islands possess a variety of niches were these species thrive without being adapted to the same island as the others as all the populations became isolated not by space (as dragons can fly) but by habitat (different resources); also, these dragons are the best example of the adaptive radiation process as a common ancestor species from Westeros established in the different islands and each of the groups adapted to a specific island. One possible explanation to why this process started on different dragons in the islands is based on Gause’s principle of competitive exclusion as two species that have…

The contrast with the western dragon is that the western dragons usually have a shorter but wider body length, as opposed to the Articulated dragons long and slender body frame. The depicted frames are something that is to be noted as the frames represent the visualization of two different cultures regarding the mythical creature. When comparing with other eastern cultures dragons, there will be many similarities and a few, almost unnoticeable, differences regarding the dragons. Comparing the Articulated Dragon to the Dragon Pendant of China’s Eastern Zhou dynasty, we could see that the frames of both dragons are basically almost identical to one another with some minor differences. The…

To keep your bearded dragon healthy, owners have to know what to feed them. Owners need to know that “ bearded dragons are omnivorous, so they eat both plants, fruits, and animals. Good food for baby bearded dragons are black soldier fly larvae, butterworms, crickets, dubia roaches, earthworms, locusts, red worms, and superworms” (“The Bearded Dragon”). The owner has to know if there are any specifics in what baby bearded dragons eat. On the other hand “good food for adult bearded dragons eat most of the same things as babies, but superworms and butterworms are as treats” (“The Bearded Dragon”).…

Standing majestically with a gaze protruding from a body of “white limestone and alabaster…” (MET), the Human-headed winged lion measures up to 10 feet and 3 ½ inches in height. Also referred to as the Lamassu, the sculpture is adorned with a “horned crown” that represents a spiritual holiness. Despite the crown’s intention to convey a state of “divinity”, it is in my observation to point out how outwardly phallic the top of the Lamassu head appears. It may be a vague symbol of masculine power and force. Beneath the crown is the head of a human male, although Lamassu is often portrayed as “protective deity, who is usually female” (Livius).…
