Antagonist - This is the character that is in opposition or conflict with the central character. The play seems to have two antagonists. Nils Krogstad is the obvious villain through most of the play, but the bank clerk does right in the end by returning the note to the Helmers. Torvald Helmer is uncovered as an antagonist because of the way he doesn't care for his wife. She is part of the house or the appearance that he needs for a good career.
