Wayne Dyer once said “Be miserable. Or motivate yourself. Whatever has to be done, it’s always your choice.” If people aren’t happy with their lives it is their responsibility to change it. People can’t just live their life without happiness, they need to make a choice to create a wonderful life for themselves. Similarly , in the play “ A Doll’s House “ the author Henrik Ibsen utilizes character development to suggest the idea that if a person choses to lie about who they truly are, It will ruin what they have.
In the novel ‘’ A Doll’s House” Nora shows us how much a choice can change someone’s life. When Nora is first introduced we learn that she acts like a doll to her husband. The scene where Nora and Torvald talk about buying and spending money Torvald treats Nora like a pet or a little girl , giving her money to put a smile on her face. Nora shows that all she cares about is money “(turning around quickly) Money!! Nora says happily” Torvald bribes Nora with money so she doesn’t realize how bad of a relationship they really have. Nora keeps analyzing her life and she thinks the best thing she can do for herself is leave and get an education. Nora decides to leave her kids and Torvald, so she can go to school and try to find her true self because her whole life she has been listening to men and getting bossed around by them. Nora asks Helmer about what her sacred duties are as a wife are and Helmer replies with your duties are to your husband and kids which Nora answers…
