In the beginning of the book, A Dog’s Purpose, when little Bailey was born, he was just a newborn puppy lost in the world but he didn’t have a clue of what the great challenges he would have to face in his upcoming. Born with a protective mother and three other annoying siblings, Bailey was just trying to get along and mind his own business. He wasn’t strong, tough, or a leader at that time but moreso mediocre or ordinary but courageous at the start of his life. “Fast and Sister sensed my excitement and came stampeding into the culvert, knocking me over as they skidded to a stop in the slimy water” (Bailey 16). This resembled a character a more mediocre side of Bailey because most puppies are filled with energy and adventure to just pounce on nothing moving but he didn’t have that in him. The next character trait that related Bailey was that he was just more courageous. He thought the world was different and wanted to see what was different out there. Bailey’s mother was very protective of her puppies and that they were not at any point in their lives to ever speak or get near a man or human but Bailey didn’t see why his mother thought of them so negatively.
