Growing Up In A Diverse Community

Growing up in a diverse community of Hispanics and Anglos I became aware of the differences in culture, race, and religions early. Although I enjoy diversity I also became aware of the challenges some populations face daily and noticed early on that these populations are underserved not just by the lack of financial resources and opportunity, but also by laws. My experiences living in Baker helped foment my interests in pursuing a career in the field of law and social work for the overall betterment of my community.

With the ability and passion to assist families and children living in unsuitable living conditions, experiencing upheaval turmoil, and provide them with resources, support, and to be a powerful voice through advocacy. As ultimately rewarding as this is, it contributes and promotes the desire of social change. Children living in these conditions experience and suffer from trauma; regardless if they have fully processed it or not. Providing children with the appropriate measures and counseling services promotes a healthier well-being and state of mind for the child. Children who seek treatment and progress have the opportunity to make better choices and choose a healthier lifestyle than the one they previously have experienced; allowing them to intergrade and contribute to society in a healthy manner and promote social change in the …show more content…
One day I hope to open my own non-profit organization to help children who have been negatively labeled in society. I want to replace the negative label with a positive one in hopes to inspire these children to be something greater than what society has designed for them to be. I want to instill within, there is a place in this world for everyone. Protecting the rights of minors is a concentration within the field I am very fervent about.
