In A Day No Pigs Would Die by Robert Newton Peck, a 12-year-old boy is faced with the hardships of farm-life. Robert is faced with many difficult challenges and has to learn to grown up fast. Robert has to learn to grow up fast when he experiences his pig, and father dying because his father dies he has to become the head of the house. One day coming home from school Robert helped a neighbor’s cow give birth to her calves even though he almost died in the process. Robert’s neighbor Mr. Tanner, the owner of the cow who Robert help give birth, gave Robert a pig to express his gratitude for helping his cow.
