A Day in the life of Grant Koerner By Grant Koerner

In my speech I will be telling you a couple of things about me. First thing I will be talking about is my part time job at Canton Home and Farm Supply, and the second thing I will be sharing with you is my hobby which is wood working.( add more to it ) My first talking point is my part time job at Canton Home and Farm Supply, which is located in Canton, South Dakota. Canton is about 15 miles from Harrisburg. During the summer I work pro 30 hours a week. I usually work 3-4 days during the week and work every other weekend. During the winter because of hockey and school I don't have anytime to work, and take off from November thru March. When I get to work I usually know what has to be done right away. The first thing I do is check the animal feed inventory. We sell horse feed, cattle feed, chicken feed, cat food and dog food. I am in charge of restocking the bags to make sure we have enough for our customers. This is a task that can be done all the time. My other major task includes putting freight away which comes in on Tuesdays and Fridays.

We have farm supplies which I know quite a bit about since I grew up on a farm, but the main reason I wanted to work there is because they are a lot of construction companies that come into our store. When I'm older I have thoughts about going into that field so I thought that it would be a great idea if I worked at a hardware store. Just in the 2 years I have been working there it has helped me out so much, I have learned a lot about tools and which product is the right one to use for a certain application. I really like the job and it is a great learning experience for me and will help me out in the future. I plan to continue to work there throughout high school. I have learned a lot, and I hope to make and save enough money and help pay off my future college

Gerald Graff and Cathy Birkenstein had gone to an academic conference about a speaker talking about a sociologist known as Dr. X. The speaker had a lot of knowledge about Dr. X, he referred to many books and articles about Dr. X quoting long passages. But, the audience was confused as to why the speaker kept ranting on about the same thing and not until the end did it all make sense when a audience member asked a question. The speaker was prepared but was not clear to the audience confusing them for the entire speech. Keeping order also is another key ingredient when giving a speech or writing an essay to keep the audience active and engaged. In this case the speaker needed to address what he or she was claiming.…
