We never thought that one of us would be lying on the road, unconscious. Alex rang the doorbell and we took off sprinting. There was a ditch ahead, and I jumped early. A nurse came and woke me up every single hour and asked me questions like, “When is your birthday?” I never answered incorrectly and never experienced any concussion symptoms, no headaches and no drowsiness even though I did have one. I have amblyopia in my right eye, which makes my eye legally blind. Luckily, I hit my head on the right side and my right eye was swollen shut. I couldn’t slightly open it for one whole week. After six weeks, I was cleared for physical activities, which was the first day of basketball tryouts.
I will never forget the look on my parents faces when they first saw me. I put myself and them in a tough situation. All this happened because of a stupid decision my friends and I made. Looking back at it, it has helped me in a lot of ways. For example, I now think before I act. If someone offers me a cigarette or an alcoholic beverage, I will decline and think of the consequences. This has impacted my life in many ways. It has developed my law of life which is to cherish every second because there is no way of knowing when it could
