As I packed all of my belongings and my mom double checked behind me, since I 'm always leaving items behind. We were finally ready to go. We were setting off on a road trip from our small town to New Orleans, but we had to make a pit stop beforehand. We had to get breakfast, the most important meal of the day. As a ritual we always would stop by McDonalds for breakfast. Now we are finally on our way to the dance competition in New Orleans. We were approaching the causeway and all I could think about was the day ahead of me. The drive across the causeway was very protracted. I was super anxious to get to where I was going. From looking out the window it seemed as if the water never ended and then there was boats sailing accordingly with the breeze. Until, I had to snap out of it. We had finally made it across and the beautiful nature was now just a man made city. The …show more content…

Coming to Houston from a country where opportunities are very limited and economy is a challenge for the youthful, has made the last two years a little rough and hopeful at the same time for me and my family. Therefore, school is the most important in my life, after my family; I dedicate my time and my efforts to not become just the first professional in my family, but also to be an exemplary person in society thanks to the values that my parents have instilled in me. Before coming to Houston, I studied three years of Industrial Design in Colombia; although I loved my career, I think that I was too young (15 years old) to appreciate what school was providing me and to be sure what I wanted to do in life. Once I got here I understood that what…

Growing up, my family and I weren’t very religious by any means. My parents grew up in Catholic families, but when they moved away from their families, they moved away from God too. Every time we were stationed in a new place, my parents always blamed not going to church on the military and how we would always be moving. My sister and I didn’t mind this, because we didn’t really know what church was, and didn’t understand the meaning of it, but when we moved to Louisiana in 2012, I met a friend that would change this. I met this girl Samantha, who seemed to be in a few of my classes.…

The five hours drive in Pensacola was the longest five hours drive in all the traveling I’ve done. When my dad was driving to Pensacola I felt nervous doing to much thinking but my dad gave me encouragement saying just do me. My games in Pensacola were bad to me because I didn’t have any points, I think I’m the only one on my team who had zero points the whole weekend. I barely had any playing time even when I did a good job on both ends of the court. Most people say it’s not all about points but it is about points because how can you win with zero points it’s impossible.…

I was so happy I was near the front of the line because I wanted to stand out and make them remember me. While sitting there group after group kept going in it was getting close to my turn.
