A Day At A Restaurant Known As Chipotle Located Off Of Happy Valley From 7-8pm

On October 29th, 2016 I observed four different individuals at a restaurant known as Chipotle located off of Happy Valley from 7-8pm. Since it was a Saturday night, I thought there was going to be lots of people to observe, however, this was not the case. Thankfully, there were still enough people to observe I just thought there were going to be so many people that it was going to be difficult to focus on one individual. I proceeded to sit down, retrieve my pen and paper, and scan the room. When scanning the room, I asked myself who am I going to watch? Will it be an employee or customer? Will I be able to adequately observe them with the loud volume of the music? I then took a deep breath, grabbed my pen, and focused on the first person that caught my eye. In the following essay, I will describe the nonverbal actions of four people I observed and speculate on the nature of messages being sent, their emotions, and the nature of their relationship with people around them. The first person I observed was a female Chipotle worker who seems to be in high school whose name is unknown since they do not wear name badges. Her hair was pulled up in a bun and she was wearing a black Chipotle work shirt, navy-blue jeans, and converse shoes. She ensures that she speaks up and gives eye contact to whoever she is speaking with so that she knows that they can hear her and that they have her attention.
