The filmed version of Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry has several similarities, as well as many differences, from the novel. For example, in the novel, Stacey, on the way to school, is given a paper comprised of cheat notes by T.J.. Stacey rips up the paper into several pieces and throws them into the gully. T.J makes new notes at noontime, and Stacey sees them during the exam. He motions T.J to put them away, but as Mama is coming, he slips them to Stacey. Mama sees the cheat notes, and questions Stacey about them. Of course Stacey wouldn't tell on T.J., and Mama whips Stacey and fails both T.J. and Stacey on the exam. After school, Stacey goes down to the Wallace store and fights T.J to the ground. Mr. Morrison comes to the store, in a mule wagon, and confronts Stacey about the incident. Stacey tells Mama that he disobeyed her and went to…

I believe that “A cry in the wild”does a better job than the novel Hatchet.I think this because A cry in the wild explains what happened way better than the novel Hatchet. For an example when the pilot had a heart attack the movie made it look like he was in very bad pain but in the novel Hatchet it didn't even sound like he was hurting. Also the movie uses way more foreshadowing and imagery.Like when Brian throws his hatchet across his shelter it made sparks. When he fell asleep he had a dream and he woke up and he made a fire. For an example for imagery , when his mom kissed the guy big , juicy , and a meaningful kiss.As you can see , “A cry in the wild” does a way better job than the novel Hatchet.…

I think Hatchet did a way better job of telling the story. In “A Cry in the Wild” they had to skip many things to keep the movie so it's not to long. And in Hatchet, the author lists all the details to give a great image in your mind. In “A Cry in the Wild” Brian is in the woods and a few days later he is getting rescued, and in Hatchet Gary Paulsen lists all of the important details to give the reader a great image of what's happening for his 54 days of survival. Also, Hatchet does a great job of foreshadowing. For example, Brian's mother gives him a Hatchet as a going away present and sure enough he crashed but he had his hatchet. Another example of how Hatchet is more descriptive is how when Brian is picking…

I believe that Hatchet does a better job of telling the story than “ A Cry in the Wild.” I believe this because the book said said “we didn’t see his dad but, in the movie we did “(twice). His dad has blonde hair, and he was wearing a white shirt. On page 146 about the tornado in the book it says “water slamming and going in different directions. The movie you just see wind. On page 51, about the” mosquitos “in the book it says “his face was swollen and ,but he put his jacket on his face. The book, movie his face was not swollen and he put mud on his face. I think Hatchet is better than “A Cry in the Wild “because it gives more details and explains Brian more.…

I believe that ‘’Cry in the Wild’’does a better job of telling the story. I believe this because, the move uses foreshadowing like for an example in the move the bear. First of all, the bear never gave up on churning to destroy Brian . How ever, in the novel, there was a moose. The moose attacked Brian only two times. Last but not least, is when Brian covered his face with mud, but in the book Brian guest hied his face with his hand’s. There for, it given a more discrete picture how bad the musket were out. So that is how ‘’Cry in the Wild’’ uses foreshadowing and imagery then the book Hatchet.…

“There are things you can't back down on, things you gotta take a stand on. But it's up to you to decide what them things are. You have to demand respect in this world, ain't nobody just gonna hand it to you. How you carry yourself, what you stand for--that's how you gain respect. But, little one, ain't nobody's respect worth more than your own,” (Taylor, 134). Cassie Logan starts off naive, young, and oblivious to the world around her. She goes to school and gets racist books, then says she doesn't want them when she shows her teacher the crude writing on the inside cover only to get beating in front of the class. Cassie then gets her arm twisted by a grown white man, has tricked little Lilly Jean, and sees TJ fall down a dark abyss of a life path. In Roll Of Thunder Hear My Cry by Mildred D. Taylor there are both static and dynamic characters, one of which is named Cassie who out develops the rest by learning the importance of family, bravery and self respect, and love when maturing into a harsh reality of degradation.…
