A Critical Analysis Paper 'A Touchy Subject'

I greatly appreciated the topic you chose for your Critical Analysis paper, “A Touchy Subject”. Marijuana legalization has become a daily topic not only in the news, but also in our daily discourse. On a number of occasions I have been in line for coffee at Starbucks and the topic has come up for discussion. Usually, and thankfully, it is not a heated discussion, but one of strongly-felt opinions and personal stories. I understand why you entitled your essay as you did, but every day, legalization of marijuana is less controversial. You make it very clear throughout your essay that you are in support of legalization, but I think in order to make a more convincing point, you should consider a stronger thesis statement at the end of your first paragraph. …show more content…
I would suggest one source per paragraph. It will help you to clearly state your point. Your appeal to the reader’s emotion is very effective, citing patients whose suffering would be eased or illnesses that would be cured with cannabis. I suggest you incorporate some credible medical associations, in addition to personal testimonials, to further support your claims. For instance, The National Eye Institute has shown positive results in glaucoma patients who have smoked marijuana. In addition, you may want to check The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) regarding smoking marijuana and its positive effect on the lungs. Throughout your paper, if possible, try to explain why the opposition to legalization of marijuana acts or feels the way they do. For example, is it a cultural aversion to it? Or could it possibly be because of its long-standing illegal status? You could address some of these points throughout your essay as a counterbalance to your argument.
