In the reading “ Analyzing Arguments,” the author discusses ways to identify and analyze arguments a writer may encounter. A writer enters in a conversation with others by simply responding to someone’s argument. The author states that a writer has to acknowledge the source of the argument and view its credibility or where it is “coming from”. He/she also says that the writer has to develop a stance and reflect it to the audience. When analyzing an argument, the author identifies four main questions that help figure out what’s at stake. These questions help emphasize the main point in an argument, and the author supports how they work by illustrating arguments about the Hurricane Katrina situation.
