Plot & Summary:
A Court of Wings and Ruin (ACOWAR) picks up right where A Court Mist and Fury left - duh, that’s what the last book in a trilogy does. At the end of ACOMAF we learn that Feyre is the High Lady of the Night Court and has gone under cover at the Spring Court to seek revenge from Tamlin for selling out Prythian to the king of Hybern. Only Lucien seems to be aware about her true allegiance probably ‘cos of his metal eye.
In the first part Feyre does a good job at learning what she can of Hybern’s secrets and plans to bring down the wall separating the Faerie realm from the Human realm, by playing the part of the victim who is slowly finding her way around PTSD. Her budding and possibly …show more content…
Although some parts proved difficult for me to get through, they didn’t make me skip pages to get to the end. We understand the relationships between the characters better in ACOWAR. The world building is beautiful and we get a glimpse of the Dawn Court, which after Velaris is the place I would love to visit in this universe. My favourite part is the meeting of the High Lords where we learn about the diversity of the other courts and their High Lords.
I wish there was more of Lucien and Feyre’s friendship. Lucien disappears to locate the missing human queen and appears only in the final battle. The big reveal about Mor’s sexuality feels forced to me and still doesn’t justify why she’s been keeping Azriel hanging for all these centuries. The ending seemed extremely rushed to me and the announcement of the spin-off trilogy and novellas that will follow made me feel cheated by the author. All in all if you are looking for an ending to Feyre’s story you will find some closure but if you want to find out what happens to the whole of Prythian, the humans and Hybern my guess is you will have to wait for the spin-off to be
