Reflection Paper: A Career In Counseling Psychology

A counseling psychologist is a person who counsels clients by applying a psychological perspective to any problems presented to the person. To be a counseling psychologist one must have at least a doctorate degree. This degree can be a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) or a Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D) doctorate. However, if one wishes to practice independently then not only will the person need a doctorate, but also a license to practice in the state. In some hospitals, a counseling psychologist will also require a certification. In North Carolina, the projected job growth for counseling psychologists is at seventeen percent which is an above average growth. It is expected 235 people in the Raleigh, North Carolina area will retire within the next …show more content…
I agree with all my results except for E. Personally, I am often drained of energy at large events with many people and often need breaks from a crowd, which is the sign of an introvert. However, I know I enjoy spending times with small groups of people and usually gain more energy, which is attributed to extroverts. Therefore, I can not confidently label myself as either an introvert or an extrovert. I agree with I, F, and P because I often use how I feel about things and intuition to make decisions. Also, especially when dealing with people, I find it is better to observe during a conversation than judge because I give myself more information to make a conscious judgement on later. My interest test results concluded I show the most interest in artistic and enterprising areas. I agree with an interest in the artistic because ever since I was younger, I have always enjoyed expressing my creativity through the arts. I often did crafts, fine art, learned choreography, sang, and acted in plays and musicals. However, I am not clear on what it means that I have an interest in enterprising. My learning styles show a preference towards verbal, active, intuitive, and sequential learning. I think these results are accurate because I have noticed my learning style preferences throughout my academic career. When I am being taught new material,
