As a planner while making a comprehensive plan for it is of utmost importance that plan is to be prepared according to the requirements and needs of the area. The primary concern is to provide and develop such a plan which people of that area will acknowledge and accept it. Thus over the time authorities have been trying to put emphasis on public participation as a major component for planning process. This participation comes in various forms, out of which the surveys and community meetings form to be a greater source to get public input. Over the time instead of developer’s perspective, nowadays plans for an area or community are being developed keeping into consideration view and perspective of the people belonging to that area. …show more content…
The question framed are trying to get a grasp a brief idea of the problem and the present scenario of the neighborhood. It also tries to acquire the idea of what exactly the people want. Most of the online surveys focus on framing question as asking the responders “would you like if we implement this”, but this survey typically focuses on getting input from the people regarding with “what would you like” kind of approach. And that’s actually how the planning process should focus on. Whereas the CMAP was kind of open house meeting in which various PowerPoints were presented by it partners. The meeting was a long meeting with various partners discussing about potential stakeholders and their investment strategies and future plan. This provided the whole idea of how will be the planning process. The CMAP public engagement was kind of different, each department had their own section and it helped the people know in detail what the plan will be focusing on. This it provided a flexibility to the people to understand a particular topic and get to know the planning process well by interacting with individuals involved in the plan making process. Plus during online survey, it being more of a one way input, there cannot be alternative plans, question or recommendation involved in the survey, although a strong opinion can be added sometimes with additional comments but in case of public meeting planner have a more flexibility to understand what people are trying to convey, this also helps them understand the impacts their plan will make and also what changes or development the need to make in their
