Holden is the main character in the novel and he has gone through tough times but one thing he does is refer to his favorite people with nothing but good memories of them putting them in a box witch to him are seen as “perfect people”. Holden is remembering the good things about his younger brother he is remembering something different then most people he is looking at Allie a different way then others will such as remembering the color of his eyes or things he enjoyed. Holden in a way is praising Allie because that is an original clever way to past time especially to make things fun through times that can get boring for a young child, Holden is bragging about his brother. Another person Holden praises is his younger sister Phoebe saying “ You should see her. You never saw a little kid so pretty and smart in your whole life. She’s really smart I mean she’s had all A’s ever since she started school” (75). Holden again is praising and bragging about his sibling by saying she has had A’s here entire school life and how she is the most beautiful/ pretty little girl you have ever seen. Holden is looking down on her in a way that she is still a child by referring to Phoebe as a little kid and when he says this he makes the readers think of a little cute silly and a smart girl still innocent. Another girl who Holden sees as innocent is his childhood
