Have you ever seen a movie or read a story that looks similar to something you’ve watched or read before? Well, the film High Noon, and the short story, “ The Most Dangerous Game,” are very similar, though they also do have things that make them different as well.High Noon, written by Carl Foreman, is a film about a marshal who has to protect his town from a gang of criminals. “The Most Dangerous Game,” is a short story about a hunter who is stranded on an island, and has a mission to defeat the General in a hunt off. High Noon and “The Most Dangerous Game” are very similar yet different stories, there are many similarities between the two protagonist and the conflicts in the stories, however the setting makes the stories different.

The difference is the setting, not only is it different, but because of that the story changes. Each character has it pros and cons, and the setting might be one of them. “It’s our problem because it’s our town. We built it with out own hands, from nothing... and if we want to keep it decent, keep it growing, then we got to think might clear here today — and we got to have the courage to do the right thing, no matter how hard it it,” (Forman). That is a quite describing the setting of High Noon. “Sailors have a curious dread of the place.” “ Even cannibals wouldn’t live in such a god-forsaken place.” (Connel). You can sort of imagine the setting off “The Most Dangerous Game,” by reading that quote. Hadley Ville is a town, with laws and regulations. Many people live there, it’s open, there are stores and anyone is welcome to come at anytime. Ship Trap island is much different. It’s described as mysterious and no one lives there except for Zaroff and his men, and animals. It’s a forest, with thousands of trees and in a hidden spot that know one goes to. One is an open town, with people, rules, and it is welcoming, and open. Another is a forest that is lawless, and has one man and his small crew living with him. No one dares to ever come on the island, because it is hidden, mysterious, and closed. Even though the settings are different, it doesn’t mean that they story line is different.
