Differences Between South Beach Miami And Sunny Isles

Two Different Places Although they are only a 34 minute drive apart, the two vacation spots; South Beach Miami and Sunny Isles Florida hold some fairly significant differences between one another. During the summer of 2016 my brother, dad, mom, and I took a week long trip down to South Beach Miami Florida. After enjoying that first trip so much, my family decided to go back to Miami florida for the summer of 2017, but instead of South Beach we stayed in Sunny Isles. Despite their short distance apart, the two locations have different aspects in atmosphere from the amount of people around to the kinds of restaurants available and to the kind of nightlife; South Beach and Sunny Isles provide a different experience. One of the first …show more content…
In the summer of 2016 we were on our drive back from the seafood restaurant, it was around 11:00 O’clock. I sat in the back seat of the rental SUV and gazed out the window in amazement at all the various forms of nightlife: Restaurants beaming with people drinking margaritas from bowls, night clubs shouting with music and dancing bodies, and lights ranging in colors from purple, red, blue, yellow, green, and white. Now fast forward a year, I am walking down Collins Avenue at night by myself, I realized how relatively empty and quiet the streets were in contrast to those of South Beach. There were no night clubs or parties I could see, no restaurants buzzing with people, and the only colored lights were those on hotel signs and the dim yellow street lights. The noises were different too, listening I really only could hear the sounds of cars driving by and the buzzing of the street lights. Sunny Isles was just not as bustling and alive at night time as South Beach is. Although only 12 and a half miles apart, the two vacation destinations: South Beach and Sunny Isles differ greatly. Their difference in atmospheres allows for a different experience, one more quit or one more loud and bustling. So next time you think that two places are going to be similar because they are not that far apart, think again because most of the time they are polar

Ten years ago summers for the children of Bushwick promised many things. Some things nostalgic; Puerto Rican Day parades, celebrations of American and Dominican Independence days, cookouts on the sidewalk, people watching on the once-deteriorating stoops, hip hop pulsing through passing car’s speakers, cherry-flavored piraguas, bathing in the refreshing cold water spewing from open fire hydrants. Some things, such as rampant gang violence and the sounds of police helicopters circling the neighborhood, are not as favorably remembered. However negative the image of the barrio may be, the Latino community undoubtedly carved their culture deep into these spaces. The sense of neighborhood that the predominantly Latino population created is in the…
