Human trafficking has existed for years and is considered one of the largest and most complex global human rights problem that is also linked to economic, social, and psychological impacts (Reid, 2012). Particularly, sex trafficking is rampant in both developed and developing nations, with different patterns witnessed in these countries. Factors associated with these trends include wealth distribution, demographics, legislation, and a myriad of other factors (Martin & Smith, 2015). This research will aim to compare sex trafficking in North and South America to uncover the factors that lead to the differences or similarities.
