The terrible dictator of the Soviet Union, Joseph Stalin, was not a cruel person before he advocated communism. He grew up with well-to-do Catholic parents and his parents sent Joseph to a Jesuit school. This young man spent seven years at school, studying to become a Jesuit priest. What causes a young man who want to alter the government in the Soviet Union to act unjustly and severe ruler? The power. Power corrupts people. George Orwell’s book Animal Farm shows well on the corruption of power. In Animal Farm, animals rise up in rebellion because they believe control by worthless parasitical human being is unfair to the animals. At first few days after success in rebellion, everything goes well. Pigs created seven commandments which support equality in the Animal Farm. In the article, a series of experiments shows that once honest people had tasted power, they could not resist rewarding themselves at the expense of other. One of experiment was ‘dictator game’ so the volunteers had power to control over deciding pay arts to themselves and their followers. If they distribute more money to their followers then their payment reduce. Over time they play game, people who had initially scored high on psychological hones test were not shielded from the corruptive effects of power. Today, many leaders are corrupted. Some leaders abuse their power, some leaders defraud money from other people and some leaders only care about themselves. And, most importantly they are our leaders. Then how can we make better world with them? How can we not make happen like in Animal Farm? There is one thing to change the world to better place and not make happen like in Animal Farm make limit for how much of power that leaders can have because more power cause more
