To begin with, Hatchet explains the story more thoroughly because it has additional details. One important detail used in both, the manuscript and the film, is when the tornado hit. In the book, the cyclone was more enhanced in detail and sounded like an F3 and with elaborate details such as, “the gusts whipped his hair and tore his shelter to bits.” In the movie, the tornado looked like it was just a slight gale was hardly enough wind to blow his hair.Even though Hatchet described the story better, I feel as though “A Cry in the Wild” does allow viewers to actually see and hear the character’s actions.
With foreshadowing, Hatchet also does a better job because Brian dreams of fire, and then realizes what those dreams meant by making a fire.
