I am comparing these two bronzes because of how each of the women look in the bronzes. Florence Nightingale is looking down during the bronze and has a calm poised look. Although, when you look at Mary Seacole she is looking up with an authorities commanding face. Also, as you look at these two women you can see that Florence is younger than Mary, and it is reflected in the way they each carry themselves. This bronze was completed was just forty two years old, and had been a nurse for eleven years. I really like this bronze because it captures Florence in what looks like a time of stress yet confidence. Florence had a team of nurses under her the majority of her life so there was always stress no matter to situation, but yet she holds a sense of confidence in what she is doing. I chose this bronze for the Florence Nightingale exhibit because the way it captures Florence in this still. Also, I choose this bronze it because it is the only bronze that I found during my search.
