Comparing Life Of Pi, By Yan Martel And Divergent By Veronica Roth

A 16 year-old male named Pi Patel faced a tragic event after losing his family in a sinking ship, while heading to Canada to start a new life and sell their animals from their past lives of zookeepers. Pi Patel is shipwrecked for 227 in a lifeboat with a zebra, a hyena, an orangutang and a Bengal Tiger. He faces a number of challenges on this unforgettable journey including violence and fear, and discovering his true identity, but with all the challenges Pi Patel survives all odds. In another similar story of 16 year-old female named Beatrice Prior was at the age where she has to decide what fraction she wants which will define her identify for the rest of her life. Beatrice had a complex choice regarding if she should stay with her family or go to where she thinks she belongs and at the choosing ceremony; she decided to leave her family forever and chose a different fraction that better fit her personality. Beatrice has to overcome her fears to stay in her chosen fraction but soon finds out that she is different then most and her journey begins as she discovers herself, and face a number of violent situations where fear play a huge role and finally tries to survive in world full of lies. The fear and violence throughout Divergent is forced upon the initiates to show that they have the courage and bravery to be a Dauntless member. Later on in the novel the violence is driven from a power hungry fraction that searching for control. Fear on the other hand is what can be the breaking point for a initiates to not become a Dauntless member.
