“At last you have no decency?”, this quote was said whenever an army official had been accused of communism the decency this person had to accuse these people were as low as the decency of some of these accusers. “ A victim in the end of his own recklessness” (Joseph Mccarthy). This quote about the red scare shows that even though some people even though they may not have known any communist would accuse these people to get the attention off of them. In some cases many people got killed for being accused of communism even if they had no clue what communism was or is, and not only did this rumor affect these people on the list but it affected Joseph Mccarthy because in the end he was reckless, and it ended in destruction. This quote is showing that he is going to accuse many people of communism because they believe there enemies are not outside of their city but it shows that the people that helped build the city are communist trying to destroy this town from the inside out. This quote has to do with how easily a rumor can be spread, rumors can come either out of imagination or hate towards one person. Many people come up with rumors to not only hurt somebody’s self esteem but it hurts the person image in the town, or place they live in. There are wheels within wheels in this village, and fires within fires!”In this quote Mrs. Putnam is accusing the town of being evil considering she has had 7 children and they all have died. Whenever Mrs. Putnam starts to think later in the play she accuses rebecca nurse of killing all of her babies instead of thinking god did this to her she is trying to blame someone. This quote shows how people do not look for reasonable explanations in this play but they look for corruption and evil to blame all of their problems on. “When he come to you did you see Rebecca Nurse in his company?” (Mr. Danforth,Crucible Act 4).This quote is showing how Mr. Danforth was asking John if he had seen any people with him hoping that he would give someone’s name as someone would confess. When John decides not to give anyone’s name Mr. Danforth gets upset but Rebecca Nurse knows that John will keep his goodness and not give up her name when she’s the picture of goodness in the town and she later bless his soul for lying.
