Unlike in basketball bowlers are not as active during their match. Bowling does not demand speed or agility but it does have it’s own unique demands. Upper body strength and muscle endurance is a necessity for bowlers (Wood) . Flexibility is also a necessity as bowlers are constantly rotating their shoulders and back muscles (Woods). Unlike in soccer or basketball where players need to be moving and loosening up such as jogging and running, it is not necessary to bowlers. Tennis, which is an anaerobic exercise, is played with a short breaks between each volley (Ashe-Edmunds). Due to these short breaks and the number of match wins required to win the overall game, tennis games can be drawn out for many hours. For this reason tennis players must have great endurance to make it through the game (Ashe-Edmunds). During the short bursts, players are constantly running back and forth across the court which leads to a demand of not only agility and speed but great footwork (Ashe-Edmunds). Competitors also depend on their upper body strength to continually hit the ball with tremendous speed to beat their opponents. Using these demands, a unique workout can be created to get a tennis player fully warmed up in every way they will eventually need.
