1) I think the music of today will be described by historians of the future like it always has been in the past. Our music today is a reflection of the lives led by the people making the music and also a reflection of the lives led by the intended group which the musicians are trying to reach and influence. People tend to say that they believe historians will view today's music as different and more risky than music of the past, which is true, but that is no different than how historians have always viewed past music. If new music was never different from music of the past there would be no change. The music prevalent in the 1700s would still be prevalent today. If musicians never took risks there would be no growth in musical composition. …show more content…
Over the course of the 20th century, music shifted more from acoustic instruments and natural sounds to electric instruments and electronic sounds. As new musical technology is created, like "Auto-Tune" for example, it changes the sound of the new music being produced. As far as the importance of music genres goes, I believe the genres which future historians will point to as most important in our age are Pop, Hip-Hop/R&B, and Rock. To me, Pop and Hip-Hop/R&B will be considered important because they are generally song's about today's society. These songs generally express popular trends, topics, and themes of the world we live in. Also, I believe Rock music will be considered important because although Rock music doesn't necessarily express the same as the other two genres, it expresses emotions commonly felt by those listening. Rock music has different songs and "sounds" for different thoughts and feelings. Rock music can soothe and console those who are upset and it can also satisfy the wants of happy people through its unique sounds and vibes. This is why I believe these two genres will be considered
