The government that should be helping them is either corrupted or just plain evil, both characters faced a corrupted government that was suppose to help them but didn’t. Alex the main character from the story A Clockwork Orange faced a corrupted government the government in the story A Clockwork Orange did not care for its because F. Alexander said “I think you can help dislodge this unbearing government to turn a decent young man into a piece of clockwork should not, surely, be seen as any triumph for any government sure that boasts of its repressiveness.”(3.1.21) the person talking is trying to show how the government is happy that they did something which they believe is going to benefit society but really it isn’t they just forcing someone to act they want them to because they know he doesn’t have the freedom anymore to act the way he is suppose but act to please society. However in a dystopian world there is the lack of personal anatomy which means whatever the anti hero does will not have only a personal affect but it would have an effect on everyone around them. In Sydney’s dystopian society Sydney’s life changed once his patron named Knox got into a car accident his life changed completely. Sydney finally realized that “Some things are more important than any one person” (London 204) when Sydney learned this through his journey as an anti hero it changed his life. It made him realize that the journey ahead of him is going to be a long and hard one but it is going to make a difference in his society and community. Alex also faces the same adversities as Sydney however their stories are different in their own way. Alex was used as a lab rat for the government. He was their first tester of their new creation the Ludovico technique. The government didn’t really care who the technique would affect Dr. Brodsky said “we are not concerned with motive with the higher ethics we are concerned only with cutting down crime.” (2.7.13-14) this shows how the government doesn’t really care about the side effects of the technique Alex was put on.
