People can get to know a lot about a character by their personality traits. In “A Christmas Memory” by Truman Capote he shows this to us. Buddy’s Friends first characteristic is that she is proud. Buddy and she just got done cutting down a tree. They put a lot of hard work into it and they thought is was perfect. When carrying it home, they were offered money for it by some random people. “Ordinarily my friend is afraid of saying no; but on this occasion she promptly shakes her head. ‘We wouldn’t take a dollar for it’” (63) The next characteristic is that she is superstitious. They were counting how much money they had for buying supplies. Buddy counted $13 exactly. Buddy’s friend is very superstitious about 13’s and she was thinking

Important to every story, character traits help readers understand what the author’s message is. In the story “Aaron’s Gift” by Myron Leroy, a boy named Aaron saved a pigeon while harrowingly rescue his grandmother’s spirit of the goat. The three character traits that Aaron was using in the story are kindness, helpful, and smart. One instance that shows Aaron’s kindness was when he, “… would not chance going by three flights on roller skates this time.” (Page 113) this quote displayed Aaron’s kindness because here he does not want to harm the bird.…

In the short story, “The Christmas Memory”, the author expresses his inner meaning for creating such a beautiful yet sad story of Buddy and his 60 year old companion. Childhood heroes can shape a person’s sense of identity due to the awe-like adoration that is expressed through the admirer. Many studies have shown that when people are reminded of some strongly valued or heroic people before beginning a very hard job, they throw more effort into the job at higher levels than if they had not had the strong connection before beginning the job. The heroic identification provides inspiration and energy.…

Mr.Scrooge is an old man that has a pointed nose, shriveled cheeks, red eyes, thin lips, a grating voice, and a wiry chin. Old Mr. Scrooge is a gloomy, hateful, moody, thoughtless old man that can’t stand anything that is bright, cheerful, charming, or pleasant. When Scrooge is hateful he has a good reason to be, the reason Scrooge is so hateful is because Marley died so he feels lonesome and miserable. I feel as though Scrooge has depression or a type of anxiety because he changes his mood a lot and he’s normally sad. On the other hand Scrooge could be bipolar which is when you have mood swings, your mood changes continuously it just can't stay the same, and you can't help it.…

Charles Dickens novel, A Christmas Carol left a powerful imprint on the world, eternalized as its growing list of adaptations only continues. One notable adaptation, A Christmas Carol (2009), features acclaimed actor Jim Carrey, as the famous misanthrope Scrooge. In this variation, fidelity is found in the use of animation to its full extent, to depict the characters and world with greater freedom than live-action or written word. By analyzing three scenes, and Beyond Fidelity: The Dialogics of Adaptation by Robert Stam, it can be confirmed that this adaptation is faithful to its medium.…

“A Christmas Story”, the play directed by Susan Ferley and performed at December 2nd, 2015, was a well-performed play in my opinion. The story is about a boy named Ralphie Parker wanting a BB gun: a Red Ryder Carbine Action 200-shot Range Model air rifle with a compass in the stock and "this thing which tells time" for his Christmas present. In the story, he does all he can to receive that gun but their parents reject his wish because they thought it was too dangerous for him. The writer, Jean Shepherd, wrote about a very boring outline of the story but made the story humorous and exciting for the audience. The performances in the “A Christmas Story” was very well done by the actors.…

“Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas” (Calvin Coolidge). To some people, Christmas Spirit means to be jolly, giving, and praising, but to the main character, Ebenezer Scrooge, in A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, Christmas Spirit is split into three forms: Past, Present, and Future. These spirits come to show Scrooge what his life was like, is like, and will be like without Christmas Spirit. The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come plays the main part in transforming Scrooge into a joyful, spirited man by convincing him to live a better life, fulfilling the lessons taught by the other Spirits, and inspiring him to have more…

Christmas is a Christian celebration of the birth of Christ, though it also encompasses Greek, Roman and pagan traditions of giving gifts and feasting around the Winter Solstice. It is a time when families and friends come together to share food and exchange gifts (web). In How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss and A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, the main characters, the Grinch and Ebenezer Scrooge, are similar to each other in many ways such as their awful personality. The Grinch is a green hairy who is very greedy, stingy, and a little evil creature. He wants nothing to do with the Whos, hates Christmas, and wants the Who 's Christmas spirit to be gone.…

This past Sunday I attended the school play, which was a comedy based along the storylines of The Christmas Carol. I noticed many people from the community brought their children along for the comedy. For someone who doesn’t really care for plays, or Christmas it was somewhat interesting to go into the play having doubts beforehand and coming out of it with a different view. The exposition started off the same as The Christmas Carrol.…
