In Charles Dickens's award winning novel, "A Christmas Carol," Mr. Scrooge was visited by different ghosts from the past, present, and future to help him realize that he is not who he should be. When he is invited to see his grave stone the Scrooge implores, "Men's course will foreshadow certain ends, to which, if persevered in, they must lead. But if the course be departed from, the end's will change. Say it is thus with what you show me." What do you think he meant when he said this?

The first ghost to meet the Scrooge during the night was his ex business partner Jacob Marley. When his friend died, the Scrooge tried to scam the man who was burring Jacob. When the man asked for the money the Scrooge only gave him one coin, then the man stormed off and quite. At the time Jacob came to see the Scrooge he stated," There will be three separate ghosts of Christmas that are going to come and see you."

This ghost was the ghost of Christmas future, but something was strange this ghost did not talk but just pointed. This one took him to a store was some old lady's were selling some of the scrooge's items. As they listened to them talk for a while, and he found out that he also had perished, and that they had stolen his bed curtains, and some other trinkets. After they left there they went to Scrooges house were a dead body lay on the bed, as he lifted the cover off its face he realized it was him and he dropped to his knees. Then he arose, and the ghost lifted his finger and pointed to a gravestone that said, "Here lays the Scrooge." When he saw that the Scrooge said, "Men's courses will foreshadow certain ends, to which, if persevered in, they must lead. But if the courses be departed from, the ends will change.
