Chris is described as character that dislikes children., "I'm not all that crazy about small kids".However, Chris' character changes once he receives forgiveness for his action from Mike. After the incident, he expresses remorse for Mike. This represents how forgiveness from someone important can change a character drastically.Chris also showed forgiveness for his father for leaving the family. Additionally he was a selfish person who wanted the best for him instead of for others. He wanted to be at the top, but was too afraid to face his challenges. Towards the end of the story that all changed.

There was symbolism portrayed when Mike touches Chris's face in the hospital. The symbol of Mike touching Chris' face is a way of giving forgiveness
