Improved Essays
Eleanor Roosevelt was born on October 11, 1884 in New York City. While she was raised by a wealthy family, she faced many hardships during her childhood. Her parents and her brother passed away before she turned ten, which meant she was raised by her harsh grandmother, who damaged her self-esteem, but in 1899, 15 years later, she managed to begin her studies at London’s Allenwood Academy.
She returned to New York three years later beginning her social debut by helping immigrant families. Then in 1905, she married her cousin Franklin Delano Roosevelt, a Harvard law graduate. They then settled in New York, but Eleanor found herself raising their daughter and four sons, but that soon changed in 1913 when Franklin joined Woodrow Wilson’s administration
