A Change For The Better
On December 7th 1941, The Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor happened.The attack was a big change in the world changing everything. The attack later on got america into WWll. The Japanese Navy hit at Pearl Harbor in two waves beginning at 7:48 a.m. Hawaiian Time. The Japanese aircraft destroyed much of the U.S. Pacific fleet and killed a total of 2,403 Americans, which compares to the two thousand six hundred and five Americans and 372 U.S. Residents from other countries who lost their lives in the surprise attack on the United States launched by al-Qaeda on Sept. 11, 2001(Wilson). The Japanese attack was to happen to tear apart the U.S. Pacific fleet. Instead it proved to be an embarissing event that made the nations more energized.Two days later Germany and the Axis powers, backing Japan, declared war on the United States. It would cost the lives of more than 400,000 Americans and require an eightfold expansion of the military to 8 million men to reverse the tide of history. Pearl Harbor will be remembered as one of the great turning points, for the better in world history. The attack had the startling effect of rousing a sleeping giant the United States into purposeful action, and that was the primary factor in stopping the forces of evil from cruising to an easy triumph in World War II. In Churchill’s words, the world was trembling on the edge of “a new dark age made more sinister, and perhaps more protracted, by the lights of perverted science”…
