Summary: It's A Challenge Youth Ministry

I decided to write my agency paper over It’s a challenge youth ministry here in Brownwood, Texas. The ministry is held in a little white church in the center of Sunset Terrance, the heart of every low income family. The ministry is a non-profit organization that has a board of directors based out of Coggin Avenue Baptist church that funds the ministry. Each year the ministry is given a certain amount of money to spend towards camp fees each summer and their annual Christmas party to buy gifts for each student. Whether it is the food being served each Tuesday or class room supply needed, the staff is refunded by the board at the end of the month.

I strongly believe that values play a tremendous role in It’s a Challenge ministry. I trust that their staff assist in these kid’s life and are willing to do what it takes to help each individual grow spiritually, mentally, and physically. As far as social justice, It’s a Challenge has an open door policy welcoming anyone to join us. I believe from my perspective that the staff are willing to support and whole heartily help each individual out. For dignity and worth, I believe that each staff member treats each individual equally and respect the background that each student comes from. The staff have come across many different lifestyles seen in these students but refuse to allow that to represent the child as a whole. For importance of human relationships, this plays as a key factor in the ministry. Every staff member is so welcoming. Building relationships with these students is the only way to earn their trust, so the ministry strives as a whole to welcome everyone and anyone. Whether it’s restoring relationships or improving in school the staff try their best to do it all. As for integrity and competence they strive to do everything the best they can. These students crave attention and to know someone is interested in their lives would mean the world to them. They have to be willing to have open arms to each individuals that comes up to them. They have to be willing to understand the situations that these kids face on a daily bases and treat them all equally. They have to understand that each student comes from a different background therefore talking with each student will be very different. They also have taken under consideration the exposure these students have witness and have to know how to answer questions properly. Although it seems like it may be a little difficult for some, just by simply building a relationship with one will definitely change your life
