There are many different ways A Cat on a Hot Tin Roof has events that can or has happened in people lives. Which makes the story easy to understand and connect with. There are a few different subplots that are easy to connect with because they can happen to anyone. People get sick and people die from cancer, people are greedy and only care for themselves. People lie to protect the ones they love and people fall in love or get to close to certain people then when they lose them they break and unfold. Deceit, love, lust, and greed are all part of people lives now and then, this story show this very well in a way that is easy to connect with. In the story Brick is an alcoholic and he is very depressed. He states he doesn’t want to be with his …show more content…
In the play she says that she thinks that Brick is in love with Skipper and that is why he is so depressed about his death, but in the movie this is not stated. If Brick was in fact in love with Skipper it would explain why he was taking his death so hard and why he feels like he cannot talk to anyone about it, but on the other hand if he just thought of Skipper as a friend, it seems like Brick feels like he has been cheated on and that is why he wants to leave Maggie. Big Daddy just wants his son back and Brick just wants to push him away. Maggie does not want Brick to push Big Daddy away though because she wants to get as much as she can from Big Daddy’s will as possible. Maggie feels like she cannot get much from him though because her and Brick do not have any children together and that they have been fighting so much. This causes Maggie to lie about being pregnant and they do in fact get the land from Big Daddy in the Will. This is a perfect example of greed in the story. In the story Big Daddy has colon cancer and it is killing him. The doctor tells the family the news but only tells Big Daddy he has a spastic colon and that he will be fine. This is done because the family states they want Big Daddy to enjoy his last birthday. Maggie wanted to go to his birthday to try to convince him to give them more in his will. The whole time they were planning to tell him the truth after his birthday. This shows one
